Eye Shadow, Hairspray....on a card

Today's Try a New Technique challlenge on Splitcoaststampers was to make a shimmery card using Perfect Pearls and water ...squirting in on cardstock to create a shimmery background. Well, I had to improvise as I have no Perfect Pearls, or Pearl Ex...but I do have old eyeshadow. So I scraped off some eyeshadow and mixed it with some hairspray and added Real Red ink (SU!)...and sprayed away. It turned out quite shimmery...you just can't tell from the photo. details:

I am no Zindorf

Michelle Zindorf makes her versamark, clear embossing powder, heat gun, brayering technique look so easy in her daily blog tutorials (here)...well...of course I can't pull it off. On Splitcoaststampers the Inspiration Challenge was to get inspired by Acacia..I chose to make a card inpired by the pillow on this bedding. Now I learned that you need to emboss in small areas...not try to do the whole card at one time. Stamps: Best Blossoms ;

There are no bad days for riding

Today's Ways to Use it Challenge on Splitcoaststampers is to use photos in a project...well...if that isn't the perfect challenge for a scrapbooker. New Bike

Summer vacation is proving to be exhausting. I am not used to having Kari up early and ready to ride bike by 7 a.m. When it is just RJ and I home after Kari gets on the bus, he gives me time to check my favorite websites, and I allow him to watch a couple of cartoons. We had a nice little routine going...but now with Kari home for the summer, she is ready to go first thing in the morning. I just am not feeling any creativity with card-making lately. There is one slight problem with that...I need to make 2 grad. cards and a wedding card by Sat. Hybrid Scrapbooking, Song Lyrics, and Stamping on Chipboard

This is for the Scrapbook Variety Challenge...stamp on chipboard. I stamped the title and little four-leaf clover with swirls on the rectangle chipboard from SU!. I made the frame using Shabby Princess-Promise collection (free download). I inked right on the photo to bring out more brown tones.This is also for Totally Random blog challenge #4...to use song lyrics...which is one of my favorite songs from church camp (it is amazing I can remember all those songs!) "Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make straight your path."

Scrapbook Max!

So I have a new digital scrapbooking program...Scrapbook Max!. It really makes digital scrapbooking quick and easy for anyone intimidated by Photoshop...which has quite a steep learning curve. I was using a program (free) called Photobie...and was having troubles learning how to use it. On Friday after researching online, I downloaded another free program called GIMP...that is very similiar to Photoshop. If I want to use that program, I really need to dedicate time to learn how to use it. All these programs can be used to make layers in order to create digital scrapbook pages...but Scrapbook Max! is by far the easiest to learn and comes with pre-made, yet flexible templates/pages. Here is what I made this evening using this program. The first 2 are from premade pages that comes with the program and I used my friend Renata's digital kit "Girly girl" for the third page.

Birthday card for my little cousin

My cousin's daughter turned 6 and I am really late sending out this card! I added Judikin's Diamond Glaze to the cherries and Stickles to the icecream scoops. The cones were colors with Lyra watercolor crayons. Stamps- It's a Party *SU!, Micheal's $1 ice cream cone stamp. Sketch was a previous Anna Wight sketch challenge.

A Spring Picnic

This is for the sketch challenge this week (SBSC141) and the Scrapbook Variety challenge...use thought bubbles. I was looking through my stash and found thought bubble chipboard...how perfect! To make the title I traced around my Basic Grey Mini Monogram chipboard letters and filled it in with paint.

Confirmation card

My neice and nephew are being confirmed tomorrow, so tonight I whipped up a card for them. I used Michelle Zindorf's brayering techniques. I do not have any crosses in my stamp collection, so I came up with this. Stamps: All That I Have Seen, Lovely as a Tree.

Laugh with Photo Doodles

The Scrapbook Variety challenge on Splitcoaststampers this week is to doodle on your photos. I love how the doodling sets the photo apart from the patterned paper just a bit. To doodle I used a clear T-square ruler and my white Signo gel pen. All pattened paper and embellishments are from Basic Grey- Sugared. Journaling: Kari got a case of the giggles at Grandmas. Palette Generator for Your Photos

Have you seen this? I thought this was the greatest thing...you upload a photo and a palette generator shows you what colors would go well with your photo. Now...how brilliant is that? Readin' With Dad, Scrapbook page

Thanks for stopping by. Yesterday I received my 4 layout kits in the mail from The Scrap Room. My mom gave me the kits for my Christmas and birthday presents...and in my opinion...it is a perfect gift. I am lovin' the bright and fun colors of the My Mind's Eye- Dream collection. Here is a page I did with the kit tonight. The stars, flourish, tags are all die cuts that came in the kit. Here is a helpful hint: take a scissors and cut off the evidence of a "punch-out" die cut. It will make your pages look much neater...or if you are too impatient (like me) sand the edges with sandpaper. Try sanding your photos, too...it is so much faster than matting all the photos with cardstock. Thanks for looking.

Well...I started a card 3 different times and tossed them all because I just was not happy with them...that was until I decided to challenge myself and make cards using the images I started with. Well...I finally did something creative! On Sunday it is the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoastampers...and the idea is that the hostess finds a wonderful gallery and the participants in the challenge find a card in that gallery to CASE (Copy and Share with Everyone)...changing at least two elements on the card. My Friend's Digital Scrapbooking

My good friend, Renata and I were on Skype one night last fall discussing the idea of learning how to do digital scrapbooking. Both of us agreed that we would help each other learn how to do it. Well...within a month, she borrowed an Adobe Illustrator for Dummies book from the library and was making me digital elements to use in digital and hybrid scrapbooking. She is now selling digital scrapbooking kits on Ebay and I wanted to share her stuff with all of you.
