Kari's First Birthday

Today is actually my youngest's (RJ) third birthday. Wow, how time can fly. He wanted to go to A&W for his birthday, so that is what we did. It was so funny...he told us that the waitress was his girlfriend...oh, he is so goofy. He was being so flirty with her and we chuckled the whole time.

Anyway, today I made a layout using a photo that my sister took at Kari's first birthday party..in 2003. I used NO patterned paper on this layout...and I think this is one of my one of my favorite pages. It is so fun. Thanks for looking!

Whoo-hoo...another page done. I am trying real hard to get 31 pages done in Jan. Here is a page that I did using one of the Jan. layout kits from The ScrapRoom monthly kit club. The patterned paper is by American Crafts- Elegant. The journaling was done on Maya Road Memo Office Sheers. Thanks for looking.

Pages for Darcy

An "online" friend from Splitcoaststampers got married on the 19th and a group of her online girlfriends surprised her with 12 x 12 scrapbook pages and 6 x 6 recipe pages. Here was my contribution.

Jan. in Wisconsin

Today was warm...22 degrees. We made the most of the weather and made snow angels, a snowman, and went sledding down the driveway. Here is a page I made of Kari and Daddy Ronnie making a snowman together. The frame idea I saw in this month's issue of Simple Scrapbooking. Patterned paper is by Basic Grey- Fruitcake. I used acrylic paint on my rubber stamps to make the background. To make the letters I traced around my American Craft Thickers and then painted them in. Thanks for looking. I hope you had a fun weekend.

Fun night

Tonight my sister, Jill and her friend Steph came over and we made cards together and I made a scrapbook page. We shared stories, drank some wine, and laughed a lot. It was a great time. Here is what I made. The first card is for my ds's 3rd birthday (which is on Wed.). The stamp is by Penny Black and the sketch is from Anna Wight's previous sketch challenge. The second photo is of the scrapbook page. The patterned paper is by A2Z Essentials-It's Elementary.

The third card is a stamp Steph brought over, again this one is from Penny Black. Background is SU! Floral and the sentiment is SU!

Lastly, I used a Page Maps sketch for this card. The patterned paper and transparency are by My Mind's Eye, Bohemia and the stamps are SU! Noteworthy and Small Script.

Love you Grandma

I have fallen behind on my layout of the day challenge. Life started getting in the way...yesterday I worked at both nursing homes and went to bed early. I can still qualify for prizes with each layout I upload and at the end there is a prize package that you can win if you finish 31 layouts in the month of Jan. Right now...it is not looking very promising, as we are going to Wisconsin Dells for the weekend...so I will be 5 layouts behind...yikes.

This layout is of my mom and my 2 kids. My mom has lung cancer and has had it almost 3 years. I really cherish the moments that my kids get to spend with her.

Patterned paper is by October Afternoon- County Fair. Cardstock and Stamp are by SU! Thanks for looking. Tomorrow is my husband's 37th birthday so I hope he has a memorable day.

Pay it Forward time

I visited Lastel's blog and found that she was "Paying It Forward" and since I was one of the first to comment on her blog article..I get a "prize" from her, but I also have to offer up prizes to others. So, if you are one of the first 3 people to post on this blog article, I will email you for your address and send you out a goodie. I ask that you are living in the U.S., so shipping doesn't break the fragile bank...thanks!

Still scrappin'

2 more pages done. Cardstock by Bazill for both layouts. For the corn page, I used AtoZ Essentials-It's Elementary paper. On the 3 Girlfriends and a boy page the patterned paper is KI memories-Pop Culture.

I am really drawn to layouts with a large place on the page to rest your eyes...and it has influenced my own scrapbooking style. What do you think?

Thought of You

I LOVE owls and I really love that they are the trend now. I am seeing them on fabrics, scrapbook paper, rubber stamps, and my daughter even got one on a sweatshirt for Christmas. I couldn't be more happy! With my Christmas money I stopped at a scrapbook store and couldn't resist this owl stamp by Inkadinkado. The background is by Cornish Heritage Farms...Weave Backgrounder and the sentiment is a StudioG clear stamp. The branch is from the Angel Company. This card I made for the color challenge this week on Splitcoaststampers...Wild Wasabi, Barely banana, and Bayou Blue. Since I don't have Wild Wasabi or Bayou Blue, I improvised by mixing the inks that I DID have. For the Wild Wasabi I mixed Certainly Celery and Garden Green. For the Bayou Blue I mixed Tempting turquoise and Brocade blue. Thanks for looking!

ANOTHER layout inspired by Emilie Ahren

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We were plagued by a stomach virus, but otherwise we had a wonderful holiday.

This layout is one that again is inspired by Emilie Ahren. I thought the photos were kinda bright and busy, so I didn't want to add a lot of busy paper, so I again used the StudioG stamp to stamp along a circle I made using my dh's handy dandy compass. The title letters are foam Thickers by American Crafts (I am lovin' Thickers). Thanks for looking!
