Bookclub and a little blog candy

Last night was book club and only two of us could make it and I was the only one to finish the book. Our book club read Population 485: Meeting Your Neighbors One Siren at a Time by Michael Perry. It is a non-fiction book about the author's experience moving back to his small hometown and his experiences on the fire department.

Will you do something for me? Leave a comment and tell me about a book you read that you just could not put down. I will randomly select a winner for some yummy ribbon I will send out. (I bought WAY too much for my sister's bridal shower invites). Please comment by midnight next Monday, Oct.8th, and I will post the winner on Tues. Oct. 9th. Thanks for your time and have a wonderful Tuesday!

I have always failed at having the time to read a good book, except the Bible. The last book I read was called "Tested by fire". It was a book written by someone I met once. Excellent book.
BTW...my husband is retired from the firedepartment and also put time in the voluteer firedept. and we live in a small farming community. Maybe we should get the book you refered to.
Thank you for the ribbon offer.

I don't read as much as I should, cuz I'm always trying to stamp or bloggin. I love all the Danielle Steele books. I usually have to start the book in the morning with fresh coffee and I have to finish that same day. NO one is allowed to bother me on that special day. Thanks for a chance at your sweet candy.

When I was on vacation, I read several good books. One was "The Wedding" by Nicholas Sparks. Another was "Flush" (don't remember the name of the author, but it's a children's book). I also read another Nicholas Sparks book, but can't remember the name of it that was pretty good. I read entirely too much while I was in Florida!! I've got an old blog candy post on my blog where I asked for suggestions on books. There are some great suggestions there. Thanks for the chance to win!

The book that comes to mind is MONSTER by Frank Peretti. Love how he uses suspense in his books.

I read fiction and I really like mystery/comedy.... A good author that fits both (mostly comedy) is Janet Evanovich. She is hysterical. I laugh out loud when I read her...so much in fact that my husband couldn't believe an author could be THAT good and read behind me....now he has read every book I have by her....

Thanks for the opportunity to play, have a wonderful week.

Hi Erika,
I seem to be spending more time reading blogs than books lately, but the last non-fiction book I read was "Ask and It Shall be Given" and the last fiction book I read was "Wicked."

Thanks for sharing!

I am not much of a reader either but I did just finish the Dr. Phil book Self Matters. It makes you site back and learn things about yourself. It helped me out alot. I think there are times when we all need a bit of self discovery.

Tks for the chance of winning blog candy.

I just finished a good one -- Mary Modern by Camille DeAngelis. It's kind of a retelling of the Frankenstein story, but dealing with human cloning. Not a horror story, but a bit of a "be careful what you wish for" kind of tale.

The last Harry Potter was one I couldn't put down. I started it around 10:30 PM the day it was published and stayed up until 4 AM getting it done!

The best book I read this year is The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. A thrilling, suspenseful story without being gory or scary! Check it out!

I loved Population 485, maybe because I am from Wisconsin too, and have been a paramedic and a nurse. I also loved Kite Runner, and his new book A Thousand Splendid Suns.
Thanks for asking!

I'm bonkers for the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. All three books (Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse) were incredible, but Twilight was my favorite. I went sleepless several days wanting to finish them. My husband got them for me for my birthday, but I have to wait until then (only 6 more days) to read them! Can hardly wait!!

I'm on a crime novel kick right now and just finished Cross by James Patterson. I'm about 1/3 through True Evil by Greg Iles. They are both great suspense writers, along with John Sanford. The book Kim (Reality Show Reject) mentioned is Flush by Carl Hiassen. I know, because I left it as a suggestion on her blog before she went on vacation. He's a wonderful writer, always weird/crazy/funny stories about Florida and the weird/crazy/funny people and events that inhabit it. Have fun reading your next book. Never leave home without one (I even keep one under the seat in the car). Thanks for letting me play along!

The last one I read was from Stephen King called Lisey's Story, I've read this past summer: No Place Like Home by Mary Higgins Clark, Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince (I know...I'm a little behind!), End of the Spear by Steve Saint (Excelelnt real life book that I don't usually read, but this was good!) and I'm in the middle of Lost by Michael Robotham. So if you like supense books or Stephen King, just let me know! I'll give you some titles!! Thanks for the chance at blog candy! Love your blog! :)

Any book by Debbie Macomber. She writes nice books for women. Nothing too deep, just enjoyable and clean - that's what I like. I also like Barbara Delinsky's books, they are in the same genre but she hasn't had a new one for awhile.

I recently read 90 minutes in Heaven, by Don Piper. He had been pronounced dead for 90 minutes before he came back to life. I was so facinated by his story that I read it throughout. My favorite author is Nicholas Sparks & his books are hard to put down too. I love audio books & go to bed every night listening to a novel or the Bible on tape:)

This is a very interesting way to try to win your prize. I took the time to read all of the comments left. I am right in with those ladies who said Nicholas Sparks' books. He is one that I just can't put down. Memoirs of a Geisha was a recent read I couldn't put down. It was so interesting because the story was true. Thanks for the blog candy give away.
