Cousins

Sometimes there are people that make a bigger impact on your life than they realize. This is the case for my cousins, John and Eric. Their visits to the farm were the bright spots of my childhood. As an adult, I love and respect them so much more than they will ever know. This photo is really just one of my favorites...even though my sister's eyes are closed. This template I downloaded awhile back and since I don't have Photoshop...it didn't work as a template (I use Scrapbook Max!)...but instead I used it as a "sketch" for this page....however, I don't know who to give credit to for the layout...I apologize if it is yours. Let me know and I will give you credit, where credit is due! Thanks for looking. credits: bg paper-Vinegar and Brown paper by http://vicki20.blogspot.com/ "A work in progress", title alphabet by Bunny Cates, all other elements from Boy Time kit by Teriann Hanks - Garden Scraps Design.

Eye Shadow, Hairspray....on a card

Today's Try a New Technique challlenge on Splitcoaststampers was to make a shimmery card using Perfect Pearls and water ...squirting in on cardstock to create a shimmery background. Well, I had to improvise as I have no Perfect Pearls, or Pearl Ex...but I do have old eyeshadow. So I scraped off some eyeshadow and mixed it with some hairspray and added Real Red ink (SU!)...and sprayed away. It turned out quite shimmery...you just can't tell from the photo. details:

Stamps: Spring Solitude;
Paper: Making Memories- Noteworthy patterned paper, so saffron, GP white, Basic Black ;
Ink: Staz on Jet Black ;
Accessories: acrylic flower, black silk flower, bling, hairspray, organza ribbon ;

I am no Zindorf

Michelle Zindorf makes her versamark, clear embossing powder, heat gun, brayering technique look so easy in her daily blog tutorials (here)...well...of course I can't pull it off. On Splitcoaststampers the Inspiration Challenge was to get inspired by Acacia..I chose to make a card inpired by the pillow on this bedding. Now I learned that you need to emboss in small areas...not try to do the whole card at one time. Stamps: Best Blossoms ;
Paper: GP white, Real Red, Cool Caribbean;
Ink: tempting turquoise, Rose Red;
Accessories: ric rac, clear embossing powder, brayer, dimensionals, versmark marker

New Bike

Summer vacation is proving to be exhausting. I am not used to having Kari up early and ready to ride bike by 7 a.m. When it is just RJ and I home after Kari gets on the bus, he gives me time to check my favorite websites, and I allow him to watch a couple of cartoons. We had a nice little routine going...but now with Kari home for the summer, she is ready to go first thing in the morning. Thanks for looking. credits: Lisa Minor *paper behind the photos, bg paper- Amy Sumrall , "K" brad by Digitreats, sequin flourish-Mandy Mystiques Design

Britt's Grad. card

I just am not feeling any creativity with card-making lately. There is one slight problem with that...I need to make 2 grad. cards and a wedding card by Sat. Paper: Making Memories- Noteworthy patterned paper, so saffron, GP white, Real Red

Can you stand one more digital scrapbook page?

I never thought I would enjoy digital scrapbooking as much as I do. I LOVE paper scrapbooking, but when I am feeling too lazy to go down to the craft room and dig all my goodies out, it is nice to just sit in front of the computer and get a page done. This is my son blowing bubbles in the pasture of Grandpa's farm. Serene by RW

Well, my friend Renata and I had goals of learning how to do digital scrapbooking this year. Before I even had my first page started, she was studying up on Adobe Illustrator and started making digital scrapbooking kits. She's so smart and creative. The only thing that I have done before her was this blogging stuff, but she now has a blog, so go check her out-Serene by RW.

Thanks for stopping by.

A Couple of Digital Pages

Ever since using the Scrapbook Max! software I have been creating more digital scrapbook pages. It is so much easier and I actually enjoy it! Here are a few new pages. The first one was using Pencil Lines sketch this week and the pedal tractor page was inspired by a California Clostets ad. credits: Blowin' Bubbles- rhinestones by Serene by RW, paper and embellishments by
Mandy Mystiques and on the tractor layout all papers by Amy Sumrall, Beautiful Mess by Elizabeth Quintana- Scrapalinquent, Love In Paris by mhulshoff, poppy stamp by Emily Powers- We Are Storytellers
