Well, it has been quite a while since I have posted! I have been doing some creative things; including making garden "art" from wine bottle, glassware, and old dishes. It has been loads of fun!

I have also been intrigued with watching the eagles hatching from their eggs on the Decorah Eagles Ustream site HERE.

We're Moving

Actually, we are not moving...it is just the title of the scrapbook page I did for our neighbor. My husband helped them move this playhouse a mile down the road last weekend. I used Pixel Gypsy's new kit, Harmony Lane. You can find it at The DigiChick HERE. I love the fun color palette and sweet stamped paper.

Mother's Day...Bittersweet

Mother's Day...it has been a day I've been dreading (along with Christmas and my mom's birthday) for a couple of weeks. Since my mom passed away in August, dates that come around bring sadness beforehand, but on the actual day...it is never is as bad as I anticipate. Today wasn't so bad. My 7 year-old daughter and my husband made me breakfast in bed. I went to my mother-in-laws and we had good conversation and great food. All-in-all...I had a good day.

Birthday Pennant Banner

I have SO much scrapbook paper, tools, and doo-dads from my paper scrapbooking days, that I feel guilty for only doing digital scrapbooking pages. So....I decided that I am going to make an effort to use some of my supplies. I am invited to my aunt's 80th birthday party on Saturday, so I decided to whip up this birthday pennant banner.Detatils: Each one was cut from a sheet of 12x12 in. paper. I marked one edge at 3 in, 6 in, and 9 in. and the other end at 6 inches. I then took a ruler as a straight edge and connected the dots to create the triangle pennants. 3 pennants were created from each sheet. Then I took a foam brush and some paint and painted the edges. The left over bits I cut in 1in x 6 in strips and used a scallop punch from Stampin' Up to create the scalloped edge at the top of each one. I used my Crop-o-dile to put 2 holes to thread the ribbon through.

Supplies: All paper is by Crate Paper, ribbon is by Stampin' up (old...cranberry crisp days). The hearts are from Heidi Grace, the chipboard letters are Basic Grey and "C" is an "O" from Stampin Up' that I cut/modified, and paint is Making Memories.

Artist Challenge at Inspiration Lane

Although I have given up my designing gig, I haven't let go of all my responsibilities. One activity that I wanted to continue doing is the Artist Challenge HERE at Inspiration Lane.

Each month I find an inspirational artist, post a link to the artist's gallery, and we all find some inspiration to create at least one scrapbook layout or hybrid project.

One job I did keep (besides my "real job") is doing quality control at The Studio. I check kits and then if I love them...I make layouts using them. It is a great gig!

I created this layout using Moon Designs kit- I Love You Mommy. I took these photos the other day when my daughter, Kari, was watching cartoons. She happened to be in the one spot that sun was shining in. I used a template from the March 2010 Hawt Mama Templates.

For the past month or so, I have been organizing a charity kit that my dear creative team member Renee initiated. Her son attends preschool and her son's teacher's daughter (Jenna) was diagnosed with Post Transplant Lymphoproliferative Disorder

Here is Jenna's story:
Jenna received a liver transplant in 1997 when she was just 7 years old. The transplant was a success and her health had been good. She graduated from Apollo High School in the spring of 2009 and just finished her first successful semester of college at Bemidji State University, in Minnesota. When she came home for Christmas break this December, she showed her parents 2 huge lumps on her body. Jenna was quickly admitted to the University of Minnesota Medical Center where their greatest fear became a reality and Jenna was diagnosed with Post Transplant Lymphoproliferative Disorder, a form of cancer caused by the anti-rejection medications she received following her transplant. She is currently undergoing a rigorous chemotherapy treatments. The increase in doctors appointments and primary goal of keeping Jenna healthy has prevented her from going back to Bemidji for spring semester. She is currently working at Cashwise Pharmacy when she feels up to it and is taking an online class through BSU.

With a sad heart I must say that pretty scrappy is closed for good. I know many feel that I am behind what took place but I am not. I admit I made mistakes but no one wants to hear my side of the story. I should have acted faster upon the situation but I honestly wanted to believe my friend. Now sadly I realize that may have clouded my judgment but I never intentionally let theft happen and never took place or had knowledge of such going on until this came up. I admit That my actions my not have been what everyone thinks they should have been and I am sorry all of this has brought down many great designers. I choose to close the shop because I was getting hundreds of instant messages and e-mails and I couldn't take the stress I have never dealt with an issue like this especially one dealing with my own personal friend. My apologies go to those who have been hurt and I pray that you can find it in your heart to forgive me and also stop saying things about me that are untrue.

Retiring

Well, the time has come in my life to make some changes. I have decided this morning that I am retiring from designing. I am working more hours doing speech therapy (which I LOVE!), Pretty Scrappy closed...and there is drama surrounding that (don't love THAT), and my family really comes first. It is just time to step away. Perhaps I will chime in here to let you know about other pursuits... in fact, today we are setting up bird feeders in the yard, so I will be bird watching soon. So, for all of those who have purchased my designs, all of you who have been on my creative team, all of you who have left messages of support...THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. It has been fun while it lasted!

My last day selling my designs will be April 1st.

Sorry that I have been missing. My mom passed away on Tuesday. She battled lung cancer for 4 years. I was there to help keep her comfortable as she was dying. She is finally at peace.

I will miss her so much. She was a wonderful mom and grandmother.

My wonderful creative team member, Renee is making an album for a fellow moms club as a gift because her 4 month old (Tyler) has just been diagnosed with Leukemia. Renee is documenting and scrapbooking his progress while he's at Childrens Hospital in Minneapolis. I made this kit for her to use. I am praying for health and strength for him, his friends, and his family. It is so sad to hear of little ones that have to battle something as awful as cancer.
